Stephen Hawking is a renouned astrophysicist who is the Lucasian Professor of Mathematics in the Department of Applied Mathematics and Theoretical Physics at Cambridge Univerisity in England, a post once held by Issac Newton.
Stricken with ALS (Lou Gherig's Disease) at an early age while working on his Ph.D. in Physics, Hawking is confined to a wheelchair and left almost entirely immobile. Even still, he inspires many in his field and in the public to seek questions to some of life's biggest questions: What was the birth of the universe like? How old is the universe? Is there a God? How smart did God have to be to invent such a universe? Are there other universes? and other mind-blowing questions.
- Public Lectures - Good reading!

Professor Hawking appears in a Pink Floyd song, Keep Talking (found on The Division Bell and Pulse (live) albums). The synthesized voice heard in the interludes is that of his speech synthesizer. He is delivering a speech that he wrote.
He is also developed a TV series called Stephen Hawking's Universe that is exceptional!
The Stephen Hawking Pages - an excellent site devoted to the life and work of Hawking.
